Then, please respond to two-or-three of the “ABC” paragraphs written by your classmates.

Do you agree or disagree with their choice to climb or not to climb?

Why? (Please make a connection to your personal experience, a text, or a movie when you explain why).

Mount Everest Webquest

Please answer the questions in this Mount Everest Webquest. Go to the links to find the answers to the questions. Copy and paste the questions and type answers out on a Word document, and then paste them in the comments sections of this post.

The Webquest says to complete it in groups of three, but we would prefer that you do it on your own.

Body Disposal Form

Before a person climbs Mount Everest, they must fill-out something called a “Body Disposal Form.” In this form, the climber says what they want done with their body if they die while they’re on the mountain.

There are three choices — leave it on the mountain, have it cremated, or have it sent back home.

Please read this Body Disposal Form. Even though it is for a mountain that is near Everest called Cho Oyu, it is similar to Everest’s form.

If you were going to climb Everest, which choice would you make and why?

Only answer this question if you feel comfortable writing about it! It’s okay not to answer this question. Also, if you want to answer the question but don’t want it published here, that’s okay, too. Just say that in your response and Mr. Ferlazzo will be the only person to read it.

One Of The First Two Climbers To Reach The Top

Sir Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa guide Tenzing Norgay were the first two climbers to reach the top of Mount Everest.

Read this short biography of Hillary, as well as this interview with him.

Why do you think he tried to do something no one else had ever done? If you had become as famous as he became after his climb, would you have tried to spend so much time helping the people who live in Nepal? Or would you have just tried to go out and have a good time? Why?

Mount Everest

What is the highest physical place — mountain, volcano, a tall building — you have ever been on?

Please describe it, when you were there, who you were with, and how you felt when you were there.

Would you go there again? Why or why not?

What are other tall places you’d like to visit?  Why?
