  1. Dear 7 have you ever heard the name Mandela. I know one thing you will after this letter. Think of the word apartheid what do you think it means? The word apartheid means being apart by the color of your skin was. That is what nelson Mandela was fighting for because he believed in freedom. Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 he was born to the name rolihlaha. When he turned 7 his father died, and he was sent to go live with his uncle. His uncle was a king so he was taught leadership pride to be brave and other things… In 1938 nelson Mandela went to college, then a while later he was enrolled fulltime into college. Nelson Mandela was born a leader and in 1950 he was elected to anc (African national congress). The whites did not like his leadership skills, and after sabotaging the government he went on the run. Nelson was then arrested, and he was sentenced to 27 years. In a cell 7’’7 and being 6’6 tall. I can tell you it was a bad experience being inside of the cell. Then after being released he became president of South Africa. In 1990 apartheid had ended and it will no longer appear. That is who nelson Mandela is

    I want to tell you about an important man who helped change our world. His name is Nelson Mandela. Mandela was born on July 18; 1918.He lived in a tiny village called Mvezo (Transkei). When he first started school he was given the name Nelson from his teacher because she wanted him to have a English name. At the age 9 his father died. His father was Chief Henry Mandela of the Tembu Tribe. Mandela had 13 brothers and sisters. He was married 3 times and has fathered six children, has twenty grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. In 1942 Mandela got his education at University College of Fort Hare and the University of Witwatersrand and was qualified in law. He joins the ANC (African National Congress) 2 years after that.
    In 1993 Nelson Mandela receives The 1993 Nobel Peace Prize with Frederik Willem de Klerk “for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa”. Nelson Mandela has received more than 250 awards that are in every way honorable. Keys to cities and honorary degrees are among them, along with the peace prize. From this day people know Mandela as a man of humor, honesty and humility. Mandela stood for his and many other blacks rights and helped change the world for people like us today.
